The world’s most advanced technology for customized laser corrections-the Wavefront 400Hz technology was launched at PerfectWave LASIK Center at Shroff Eye Hospital in Mumbai. The first of its kind technology, the 400 Hz Wavefront, was launched in the presence of the Gynaecologist model, Dr. Aditi Gowitriker.

With the launch of the Wavefront 400 Hz technology, people in India will have access to technology and precision available only at select centers in the world. Of the various technology option that we had available, we choose the 400 Hz Wavefront technology since it is very safe and error-free. Further it allows patients with a much higher eye power to be treated safely and also can correct properly done laser techniques, said Dr. Anand Shroff, Chief Surgeon, PerfectWave LASIK center and Eye-care specialist at media meet during live operation.

Dr. Shroff elaborated on the technical advantages of the 400 Hz Wavefront and said, "The eye is one of the most sensitive parts of the body and we often treat it as a commodity, choosing the treatment that is the cheapest. Patient awareness is critical to better treatment and it will be our continued effort to educate the people about advantages of using the Wavefront 400 Hz as against using older laser technologies for corrective treatment for the eye."

The Wavefront 400 Hz technology has treats the eye at 400 times each second, with a computer controlled eye-tracking mechanism.

The Wavefront 400 Hz, technology, on the other hand, maps the cornea at 168 individual points through an unique abberometer. This mapping helps identity the corrections required to compensate for the refractive problems in the internal optics of the eye.

This machine is imported from Germany at the cost of Rs. 5 crore. There are only ten machines like this in the world as per Dr. Safala Shroff.

Dr. Anand Shroff has performed over 5000 laser surgeries. The live operation lasted just 30 minutes. The operation was absolutely pain free. However improvement in eyesight will be within the next six hours. While complete restoration of eyesight will take a week. The cost of this treatment of both the eyes is Rs. 45000.
